There are ups, downs, goods and bads about Russian business, many of which you\u2019ve probably already heard of, and all of which you should seriously take into consideration before deciding it\u2019s the road for you &#8212; now is <em>not<\/em> the time to jump the gun.<\/p>\n<p>So, what are these ups and downs and goods and bads I\u2019m speaking of? Lets explore:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1290 aligncenter\" alt=\"Image 13\" src=\"http:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-13-630x420.jpg\" width=\"625\" height=\"416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-13-630x420.jpg 630w, https:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-13-624x416.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><i>The Pros:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>From 2000 to 2010, Russia\u2019s GDP growth averaged 5.3%, and that\u2019s including a fall of 7.8% in 2009; it\u2019s also the world\u2019s seventh largest economy by purchasing power parity.<\/p>\n<p>The economy is expected to grow from $2 trillion in 2011 to over $3.2 trillion in 2017; coupled with one of the lowest levels of public debt of any major economy.<\/p>\n<p>There are over 140 million consumers with increasing incomes, and one of the most highly skilled workforces due to a strong education.<\/p>\n<p>The country has huge array of natural resources, including 35% of the worlds gas production and exports and 23% of the worlds forest resources.<\/p>\n<p>They have a very attractive taxation system that\u2019s aimed at promoting investments and developing the economy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-15.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1292 aligncenter\" alt=\"Image 15\" src=\"http:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-15-630x472.jpg\" width=\"625\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-15-630x472.jpg 630w, https:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-15-624x468.jpg 624w, https:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-15.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b><i>The Cons:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>It can be difficult to obtain real estate; administrative processes can be lengthy; and expenses are high, the same can be said for import taxes.<\/p>\n<p>Common business tactics are unenforceable and negotiations often occur in place of contracts.<\/p>\n<p>The business policies and procedures of Russia change often, so you need to stay up to date to make sure you\u2019re not violating any laws.<\/p>\n<p>Then there\u2019s the often heard about corruption.\u00a0There\u2019s seemingly unavoidable bribery; overcharged licenses, registrations and inspections; payoffs to organized crime; and questionable safety, environmental and customs violations that can be claimed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-14.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1291 aligncenter\" alt=\"Image 14\" src=\"http:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-14-630x417.jpg\" width=\"625\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-14-630x417.jpg 630w, https:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-14-624x413.jpg 624w, https:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/Image-14.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 625px) 100vw, 625px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While there are some obvious difficulties and rather questionable practices, this lucrative market is not out of reach, but it\u2019s imperative that you do your research, look at the market you want to enter and find other success stories that you can model yourself on. There have been many companies that have found success, but there have also been a number of companies that have struggled with establishing themselves or flat out failed; A big plus is if you can keep a positive relationship with the Russian government, they\u2019re not the best foe to have &#8212; this is going to be a lot easier if you learn Russian, take some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/russian_courses.php\">classes<\/a> and get your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com\/level-tests.php\">Russian language\u00a0level<\/a> up to par so that you can effectively communicate, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.languagetrainers.com.au\/contact.php\">inquire<\/a> if you need any more info about this.
