German lessons in Sydney

Why learn German in Sydney?Germany may be across the globe, but the country’s influence as a global economic power reaches the shores of the great Harbour City. According to a 2019 report by the Australian Trade and Investment Commission, Germany has been one of Australia’s top ten sources of foreign investment throughout the past 10 years. As a result, business ties between the two countries provide a wide variety of job opportunities!

As the biggest economy in the European Union, Germany is home to many international businesses. German companies such as Accru, Volkswagen, and Bayer have offices in or around Sydney, and offer a range of employment options. It’s the most common native language in European countries, so familiarity with German will also be useful in places like Austria, Belgium, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, and Luxembourg. And as Germany takes a bigger role on the world stage, more international businesses are looking to hire German speakers. Learning German in Sydney will give you an advantage over other applicants for positions not just with German companies, but with any company that conducts business with Germany.

If you want to learn more about the economic and political relationships between Australian and Germany, stop by the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce on Spring Street. The organization was founded in 1977 to promote trade and business development. You can also check out opportunities with the German Consulate in Sydney, which works to strengthen economic and cultural ties between the two countries.

Taking German classes in Sydney will prepare you not only for international employment, but also the annual Oktoberfest in The Domain! With your newly developed language skills, you can impress other attendees with your knowledge of German culture and drinking songs. You can also practise listening to German during the annual German Film Festival, which starts at the end of May and runs until mid-June. And if you want to discuss the film afterwards, consider going with a German language meetup group. You can practise both speaking and listening with each other!

Studying German in Sydney will not only broaden your local and international employment prospects, but speaking German will also open new cultural opportunities around Sydney.
