...every job makes a difference in someone’s life one way or another; however, with teaching you feel the direct effect you make on the people around you

Good afternoon, Mesay! Please can you share with our readers which language you teach and why?

Hello! I am Amharic teacher. There are countless reasons to be a teacher. It is true that every job makes a difference in someone’s life one way or another; however, with teaching you feel the direct effect you make on the people around you. The opportunity to impart your ideas and knowledge to another person is wonderful and exciting.

And why teach languages, specifically?

The importance of communication is often overlooked. Despite our great prowess in communication, misunderstandings and mistranslations are commonplace. It is arrogant to believe that one can travel the world and expect all of mankind to understand one’s own native tongue. In order to travel the world, whether for business or pleasure, a desire and willingness to adapt to new cultures and communicative methods is necessary. Language Trainers is the best solution for achieving this.

And what are your qualifications?

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English Language from Jimma University in 2008. Since then, I have been teaching in Ethiopia, as well as teaching Amharic online.

What made you want to use your talents and experience to teach with Language Trainers?

I spent a lot of time researching online schools and was very impressed with what Language Trainers offers. Between the award-winning language teaching staff and the personalized education, it is everything I wanted.

And have we lived up to your expectations? What have you enjoyed about working with us?

My favourite things about working with Language Trainers are the opportunities to share experiences with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and the freedom to juggle my time; I like not being tied down to a fixed schedule.

What do you hope for when we find a client who wants to learn Amharic from you?

Learning a language requires active communication, so I expect my students to have the ability to think and work independently.

And what should they expect from you?

I always focus on getting my students to communicate, both orally and in writing, about real-life scenarios.

Do you have any fun or interesting Amharic facts you like to teach others?

Amharic is a very interesting and beautiful language. It is a Semitic language and, therefore, shares a few words with Arabic. However, for the most part, it is unique. For example, the Amharic script is written in the Ge’ze script (in Amharic, ግዕዝ), which is unlike any other in the world. Ge’ez is the language from which Amharic is descended and is no longer spoken in Ethiopia.
