I am enjoying my lessons with Cristiane. She is a lovely person who sees my needs (e.g. to learn how to pronounce and understand Portuguese) and tailors lessons to address my weakest points. She obviously puts careful preparation into lessons and is always responsive to my questions, whether in the class or via email. She is very affirming when I do something well, and gently corrects me when I get things wrong. She is encouraging and encourages me to keep trying. I especially like how she uses illustrations to help me remember things (e.g. joining her hands for the combined words, 'o & um'). It's also very helpful that she inserts phonetic symbols into ordinary written language, so I can work on my pronunciation.

My husband has a passion for the Portuguese language and culture and I wanted to get him a meaningful birthday gift. I sought to identify a class or tutorial and, as it is COVID times, I realized that he could work through Zoom with a teacher actually based in Portugal.
